The Onlooker at the Dead Procession

During the plague, a priest or sexton of Spiringen observes a supernatural procession of the dead heading to the church. He recognizes a man wearing only one stocking and notices his own second stocking is worn by this man. The priest then recognizes the names of all those who will die in his parish and will himself be the last.
